Shawn Hannidy and the CD on pedophiles by Barbara Anderson
by oompa ini had an idea today while listening to the radio.
i know many people have been "awakened" in a sense by discovering the problems in the org about pedophiles and how it has been covered up.
i knew nothing at all about it when i first came here.

I'm not that much a Sean Hannity fan either but I think it's worth a try. I was talking with my sister - not a jw - just a little while ago and mentioned the out of court settlements that of course she never heard of. She asked me how come no one tries to get this publicized. I told her there are people doing just that but that the public and media just see the WT as a goofy little group and don't pay much attention to them. Not even in this respect.
If it is pushed on the media constantly maybe someone will take notice. You'd think that Dateline would want to do a follow-up show but maybe they don't see ratings in it. -

At least I am not the only one that has had these sort of problems - bad thing really. I'll have to save worldtraveller's comments for future reference. In this particular case however, it is a laptop and there are apparently issues with the motherboard itself. It failed to boot period and they say they are waiting on back ordered parts. hmmm. Send me a NEW computer is the way to resolve this I say.
As far as Dell goes, that is all we have at work and I don't have such a high opinion of them. My boss is the unfortunate one that has on occasion had to deal with the Tech Support for hours on end. I prefer to google the problem and find quick real world solutions from others that have had the problem before me.
I need to break down and get XP pro for my newly built computer so I can get started doing some video editing - Premiere/After Effects incompatible with Vista. Photoshop and Illustrator are ready to run in about 5 seconds - as opposed to 30 to 45 seconds on the P4 Dell at work - so I think this machine will fly once I get it set up correctly. Very seriously considering going to Mac though. People I know that have them absolutely love the things. Not so the PC world.
Anyways, still waiting for the HP caseworker - more appropriate than case manager I think - to call. Unbelievably horrible company. That's all I have to say about that. For now. ;) -

At work we have a couple of HP printers - older ones. I hate them too! Slow as can be even when they were new. A couple of scanners...hate 'em! The software that came with each is useless and the things just plain do not work. The laser printer is the only piece of HP equipment that seems to actually work as it should.
I have another laptop, off brand, cheap. No problems with it. It has been my workhorse for awhile but it's showing it's age and the new cat has attacked it a few times ripping off 1 key so far and scratched the screen. Playful little so and so. I've got an old emachine desktop that needs some attention but is pretty reliable. Then there's the desktop I just built for graphics. Core Duo, SATA, decent graphics card for what I need but I stupidly bought Vista to put on it instead of XP pro. Now some of my graphics programs it turns out are incompatible with Vista. It's always something. Other than that, I have a couple of other computers loaned out to family. So, it's not like I HAVE to have it and hence my patience but enough is too much.
Any new desktops I'll build myself. Is it as common to DIY a new laptop? I can insert tab x into slot y till the cows - formerly gateway - come home but I CANNOT DEAL WITH CUSTOMER DIS-SERVICE!!!!
sorry for that last bit of yelling :) -

I have for years avoided HP like the plague that it is. Won't even by a package of their paper! lol
Unbeknownst to me, Compaq was bought out by HP so when I gave in and bought this laptop I should have researched better. I was lax. But the levels of imbiciliocity you must deal with in these companies is amazing.
First you have to deal with the gauntlet of Indian telephone handlers that can be VERY hard to understand.
Then you get handed off to the next level of information takers so you can repeat everything you just told the first person. After that, if you don't get "cut off accidentally", you can talk to someone you can understand reasonably well but that still is not about to be of any help to you. Their job is to take some more information and see if they can give you some BS reason that they can do nothing about the problem but if you hold for just FIVE more minutes they'll see if they can put you in touch with someone that can put you in touch with someone that can get back with you in oh, the next three days?!?!? and then they can authorize, at their discretion of course, to see if your case has been in the queue long enough to warrant them giving it the "deserved" attention.
Then of course I'm sure that the info must be passed along to somewhere in the deep dark recesses of the hell hole that is Hewlett Packard - customer satisfaction service to those who are willing to wait an eternity department.
Do I sound a little out of sorts perhaps? Well, I can certainly see the humor in this scenario from an onlookers perspective, but once in the queue it ceases to be the light hearted adventure it appears.
I am inclined to say that they can take the computer and stick it where the sun does not shine but it appears that they did THAT as soon as they received it and now they cannot locate it!!!

Who Was Your Favorite School Teacher and Why?

Funny, I can only remember the teachers that were, well, funny. Or at least had funny names like Mrs. Bowjarski. Bow-Jar-Ski as she drew pictures of each on the kindergarten chalkboard. Had a history teacher that was forever telling the class what would "behoove" us. What the hell is that?
But I guess the one I remember most is the algebra teacher that informed us that old math teachers never die, they just reduce to lowest terms. Ba-dum-bummmm. -

Good one!
I was being kind to these people and thought it would be interesting to see how they acted at people's doors. Now I know. And it's true, everybody is on a mission to get something from you. It's not like this place here at all 'cause nobody here expects anything from me ... and I don't dissapoint!
